Welcome to our new Modern Jive dance group. Our regular monthy events take place in Plymouth with dancing from 8pm to midnight at a great venue.
Our next event is on Saturdary the 20th of July. Please join us on the night. Doors open a little before 7:30pm. If you would like to register in advance, please email us
Entrance is completely free for your first event. After that it’s £7 before 8:30pm and £8 after that time.
From 7:30pm to 8:00 (before the freestyle starts) we will be offering regular beginner’s lessons. There are 22 basic moves in modern jive, and we will be covering them all all.
These lessons will be free now – and for always.
Soom we will be preparing videos demonstrating the moves taught, which will be published on this page, before the lesson so that you can prepare.
Eventually, we hope to have an archive of all 22 basic moves.
- A quality sprung dance floor
- Plenty of free parking
- A fantastic online playlist
- A relaxed, fun atmosphere
We book future events in blocks. Dates and times are listed on the Future Events page which you can always access through the menu above.
Competitions and Activities
At our last event we held a ‘Dance with a Stranger’ competition . Particiapants danced to three diverse tracks and their performances were judged on fun, musicality and technique – with the emphasis definitely on the fun 🙂
Suggestions for competition themes and special occasions are always welcome
Update Your Playlist
We want to play the music that you want to dance to.
If you have a Spotify account you can add your favourites to The People’s Dance Tunes playlist at any time.
If you aren’t on Spotify, you can sign up for a free account here If you are old school, write your favourites down or email them to us, and we will add them on the night.
The current playlist (which is automatically updated with every submission) is displayed in the right-hand column of every page. You can listen to extracts from all of the tracks by clicking on the ‘play’ button’.
This is where both news and accounts of previous events will regularly appear. Drop in to see what’s happening next – and look back on what happened last time.
Some images, video and news will also appear in our social media feeds (see the icons at the top of this page).
Use the ‘News’ link at the top of the page to go there at any time.
At least, there is a catalogue built into the website. We may well sell mechandise (T-shirts and the like) &/or products for dancers in future.
Customers will be able to choose online, collect and pay on the night. Watch this space.
